Modern Western civilisation is an outcome of six centuries of the European colonial project. This is a highly institutionalised, organised and incentivised colonial project with very specific operating mechanisms.
These mechanisms operate within us, our families, our communities, our societies, our companies, and our institutions.
White supremacy and extractive profiteering are probably the two most obvious indicators of coloniality.
Both cause long-ranging damages.
We refer to these damages as "colonial harms".
Coloniality refers to these damages as "externalities".
POSSIBLE FUTURES identifies four colonial harms as less obvious but omnipresesnt indicators of coloniality or colonisation:
Ecocide
Genocide
Ethnocide
Epistemicide
These colonial harms started with European colonisation and continue apace today.
No adequate reparations have been made for colonial harms inflicted across the Global South.
Colonial justice has not been served.
